Notice: for ANY visitor to attend our Deaf Picnic!

Hello for everyone!

Who are the fans of Tennessee Deaf Campers, Please read this:

I got some messages from the fans and campers' concerns about the KOA campground policy that visitors must pay the fee for attending our Deaf picnic.

Please let me make a clarify for this policy: If you want to visit, stay for chatting, play at our TDC event, and EAT our foods with a pay at the shelter then you SHOULD NOT be charged for the visitor fee, because you only will stay with us for a half day or FEW hours so therefore you will not, however... if you want to use their KOA pool for your kids or stay with your friend's cabin, tent or their RV for an overnight, then SHOULD be charged.. (just 4 dollars per night). Why does KOA want do this? because they have to pay their staff members to clean their bathroom, pool and others that is what they pay for.. Like I always say: "There is no such a thing as a free lunch". Everyone has to pay include our campers' expense to stay at the camp as our enjoyment. I hope all of you show YOUR support to Tennessee Deaf Campers, and we really do appreciate your time to come!

The new owners of Sweetwater KOA campground and the TDC officers already agreed on this issue that anyone for just coming to eat and chat with us for few hours that they should not pay the fee, on other hand, they want to use their service should be charged like treating their property like your own home, so Please park your cars at the front office, and walk to meet us there!

I will start working on my vlog soon this weekend is coming for those people do not understand what I am talking about this.. Thanks!

Also I personally THANKS to CSDVRS for sponsoring our Deaf picnic event!

Please show your support!

Update from Holiday Travel Park in Chattanooga area!

Hello for everyone!

We have had a GREAT time at Holiday Trav-L- Park Campground on the Memorial Weekend! We had about 14 campers and more than 30 fans to eat together at the clubhouse on Sunday, May 27 with exchanging our foods that we cooked.

At the same weekend we had a big bowling event in the same town where we camped. There were over 400 people (bowlers and fans) to attend. I really enjoyed both camping and being a fan of the bowling event as well. I met some new and old friends at both places.

Now, Some of TDC members will camp or visit the event at the Southwest VA’s 20th annual Deaf Picnic at Hungary Mother State Park in Marion, VA. I hope to see all of you to be there!

And One more thing.. Please make reserve your campsite spot at KOA Sweetwater on July 19-22 2007 ASAP for our annual Deaf Picnic/Camping. Also we will have update meeting at the campground for next few camping plans that we need to know about.

That would be all for now.. I hope you will enjoy watching our video show at the campground!

Update from Riverside Campground in Sevierville

Hey for everyone!

I am happy to let you know that TDC campers plus several visitors as well are doing very well at the Riverside Campground even dispute the lousy weather we have had, still enjoyed camping as well. While I am working on my vlog plus some video of the meeting, but I go ahead to make a report about what happening at the meeting. We had on Saturday was very good input on one issue: Camping Event Schedule. Here’s my report:

On Friday, we have about 19 campers to arrive from early afternoon to late evening, The Roberson from Chattanooga area arrived first before us. I guess that they were so excited to come camping as their first travel trailer without any problem. I went there and chat with them and more campers arrived later in the evening. We started having some rains that time so we went to Cracker Barrel Restaurant in very late evening. We enjoyed it.

On Saturday, we were suppose to cook our breakfast at the Shelter but someone already use the picnic tables as their “yard sales” since last Thursday so we decided to go ahead and cook at my site #183, but we enjoyed our good breakfast. Several more visitors find us at the sites where we are camping together sites (183 thru 205) so they found us easily. We started our meeting about 10am; we discussed a lot of issue: the camping event schedule. And we agree that we should keep the schedule and locations, you can see the event on www.tndeafcampers.org that Steven will post the revised information. Yes we will keep all locations where we will go camping, but we will determine on one of our camping events: Ashville, NC on August 2007 whether we should go or not, based on the gas price status this summer 2007 that we will make an announcement at KOA campground in Sweetwater on July 2007. And We, members agree to send one of the officers with their gas expense by TDC, ONLY IF all or any TDC officers and/or the planning host chair are not able to attend due to higher gas prices in case. Why do our members agree to pay one of the officers to attend? because we want the other campers and fans to have their good time with our TDC organization without changing the event like we did for Nashville campground last time, so we will NOT do that again.

One thing is important issue: we need a new banner since we had old one (HIDEOUT) so we approved to purchase the new TDC logo banner (up to $200 worth)..

After the meeting, the TDC officers and I went to the River Plantion where we may host two big events for 2009 and 2012 and exchange the information so Steven Reardon, 2012 National Campvention of the Deaf Event Host Chairperson will contact the manager about the information to see if we could use their campground for our two events. We will keep you update if we have any.

On Saturday evening, I am telling you about the money why we decide to donate money to TDC funds, after what happening at pizza order that was mess up a bit.. We had a lot of raining so we decided to come over Steven and Donna’s mobile (not their 5th wheel trailer because their backyard was wet and could not move it and instead of bringing their trailer, they went ahead to use the mobile at the campground. We went there and decided to make a call and order pizzas for most of us while we have a good talking and fun/games. We were told that our orders would arrive in an hour and 15 mins but ended up more than 2 hours that we were waiting. And Donna called back and found out that delivery person did come and knock but no answer (the delivery man should have checked the office and will guide him to find us but apparently he did not) as their manager said, but he said that he would send the delivery man back with cold pizzas.. We decided that we didn’t want it so I suggested that we would go back to the Pizza Restaurant and make orders at the dining without telling them who we are. Most of our members said “GO FOR IT” so we went and ordered our good and hot pizza and I asked Donna to give me the receipt and I wrote on notes and gave to one of their workers I know for long time, and agreed with me and had a meeting with the manager about explaining about what happening and I also mentioned that one of their workers should not hung up on us at first place.. The manager realized and gave us $25 dollars off of the total which left was 16 dollars out of almost 50 dollars worth of the food that campers already gave their money to Donna for giving to the deliveryman when we make a call for pizza order, but it did not happen so that rest of the money went to the new TDC logo banner funds that we already agreed at the restaurant that time. We did really enjoy our hot dinner anyway!

After returning back to the campground, we still had a lot of raining but stopped shortly as we were settled down or had some errands for while then, so we decided to make a fire on the campfire ring with some wet woods but we did make a fire! We had some good chatting around the campers.

On Sunday morning, we, the campers were in good mood for ready to leave and back home.. We will see each other again at the campground in Chattanooga on Memorial weekend so we hope to see you there! And again, Please sign up on the Google Group Email so you will keep getting update from us!

Notice: The campground plan on April 13-15 2007 has changed

The Officers of Tennessee Deaf Campers (TDC) are determined that we will not go to the Nashville campground next week on April 13-15 2007 due to lack of number of our members are attend to the campground in Nashville.

Instead, we will go camping to:

You can check on the website: www.riversidecamp.com and they will hold up to 10 sites for us so you need to make a reservation ASAP because April 13-15 is a big event for Dollywood includes the Dolly Parton parade in Pigeon Forge so you need to grab the good site for your RV!

The reason we need to change the campground schedule plan for this year due to the gas prices that many of us may not afford for the longest trips. In the fact, the largest number of Tennessee Deaf Campers members are in East Tennessee area, so therefore we can afford to go on our short trips often.

As for Tennessee Deaf Campers members, Please attend our emergency meeting on the ONE issue: Camping sites where we will go camping nearby. I believe that we must keep two or three camping sites that is long trip: Manchester, Sweetwater and Asheville, NC and rest of other camping events would be short camping trip. Our TDC secretary, Steven Reardon will email to all members on update of the emergency meeting ASAP.

If you can have any questions? You feel free to leave your comment on this (In order to becoming the member of Google you need to register it ) or email to one of our TDC officers.
